Our farm swallows have gone - left us for a warmer climate and for a good food supply. I hadn’t seen as many this year, but when they were gathering together on the wires to leave there were a few more than I had thought.

The day has arrived. Since planting the corn we have been waiting for this day. The corn is ready.
So harvest was here today for two or three hours. Then it rained.
But an hour or two ago the combine had roared into action.

When I’m on my walk I often see a variety of birds flitting in front of me along the hedge.
I also see crows, rooks, pigeons, owls flying high overhead in the blue open sky of the Yorkshire Wolds.
The fields are lush with grassand corn.
