I think the swallows are getting ready to migrate. They are gathering on the wires near the house.
Yet, there are not as many this year. For the last two years the numbers of swallows seem to have been fewer than in previous years.

The sight of the swallow is a sign of Spring.
It makes me feel cheerful when I see the returning swallows.
The connection between us and the swallow has been going on for years. Swallows are connected to their old nest sites and to the same buildings year after year.

The comings and goings of the swifts and swallows near our house has always fascinated me and it seems it has fascinated other bird watchers over the years.
About the 12th Century in Germany a Prior in a Monastery fixed a parchment to a swallow’s leg asking -
‘Swallow where do you live in winter’
