This weekend I’ve seen a lot of pigeons.  Have seen them in town and city centres and it amazes me how pigeons in towns and cities don’t show any fear. They flit near out feet and are at home in areas crowded with us humans.   We have accepted the pigeons and the pigeons have accepted us.

When to Feed Birds?

We should be feeding our wild birds all the time. 
A lot of people think that birds should ONLY be fed in the winter months when birds need a high proportion of fat to stay fit, healthy and alive.  This is wrong.  Birds benefit from being fed all year round.

Blackbird and Blue Tit

Watching a blackbird and a blue tit close to each other in the garden it struck me how different they are in their ways. 
A blackbird spends a lot of time on the ground and is not very agile in flight.  You would never catch a blackbird hanging like an acrobat from a bird feeder.

Food for birds

Food for birds is very important throughout the year so putting out any type of bird food helps and means you can attract birds. Here’s some of the favourite food of some garden birds -
