This weekend I’ve seen a lot of pigeons.  Have seen them in town and city centres and it amazes me how pigeons in towns and cities don’t show any fear. They flit near out feet and are at home in areas crowded with us humans.   We have accepted the pigeons and the pigeons have accepted us.

Cheeky blackbirds in a garden  They have certainly made themselves at home. I really like this -
 I have had blackbirds in same place in garden for 3 years now
They get used to a feeding time and peck at window if i,m late,
my residents favourite is chopped apple they also enjoy cooled boiled chopped pasta.

Every day I see crows and blackbirds together in my garden.  There are also rooks.  There are more rooks than crows.
The crows don’t seem to take any notice of the blackbirds. Neither do the rooks.
The blackbirds don’t seem frightened of the crows.

I’ve just seen a photograph of a blackbird clinging to a feeder trying to eat the peanuts inside.
I’ve never seen that before.
Blackbirds are supposed to be ground feeding birds although I do get them on my bird table a lot. 
 Has anyone else heard or seen blackbirds clinging onto peanut feeders?

Blackbirds in my garden eat a lot of the bird food I put out.
I’ve just mentioned in another diary entry that the blackbirds stay at the ground feeder and hop around at their leisure.

Blue Tit
Chaffinch
Coal Tit
Dunnock
Goldfinch
Great Tit
Greenfinch
House Sparrow
Robin
Starling
Woodpecker

Sunflower hearts are not eated by the

Song thrush
Collared dove

Sunflower hearts are a good alternative to peanuts.
I don’t want to feed starlings because they arrive in such a big swarm and completely take over everything.  This is what happened in August last year
