Hi Trish,

Having studied your pics as closely as possible it looks to me like a juvenile Blackbird and I think you may be right that it's beak is deformed. If that is the case, the fact that it has survived and developed successfully so far will hopefully mean it can live a normal life but let's hope it never looks in a mirror! Thanks for Bird Table News I love reading it regularly and please don't think when there is no feedback that no one is visiting I'm sure there are many like myself who generally read but don't comment very often.

Love Jan

This morning I had the mad thought that it would be nice if I could tell some of my birds to go to her garden. Share the wild birds out a bit 50% for her and 50% for me!

I too have trouble with Grey Squirrels.
The answer is to shoot them. (18 so far).
I no longer have the pests, and now have lots of birds visiting the bird tables.

I restarted feeding birds in my backyard after 6 months of not feeding them. I now have out the same feeders as before in the same places, but no birds! This has been going on for 2 months. I have lots of robins, but only occasional birds at the feeders. I used to have so many birds I almost went broke buying bird seed! What's wrong?

Hi Benco, That's really interesting. Will definitely get one. It will be great seeing the birds close up.

I like taking photos and will enjoy trying to take photos of them close up.

I tried this morning to take a photo of a thrush through my half open kitchen window and nearly fell over the paper rack in the process!

Thanks for the advice. Trisha

We have a window feeder on our dining room window, and there's only been a couple of birds which have flown into the window, this was mainly due to the high winds that were around though.

Ours is quite popular with the Blue Tits, though the Starlings do occasionally like to try their hand at getting the food also.

It took a while for the birds to use it, but it's great seeing the little birdies up close. Great camera opportunity too!
