Have been out early putting food out for the garden birds. This morning there is a soft drizzle of rain. During the night the rain has been more severe but this morning there is a freshness to the day.

This morning I found a new born chick dead on the garden path.
We call a new born chick a ‘golly’ This chick had no feathers and would be totally dependent on it’s parents. There is no way it could have got out of the nest itself. There wasn’t a nest nearby.

When I was feeding the garden birds the dog was always at my side. I took her for granted. Feed her and take her for a walk. Part of the daily routine. She had to be put down last month as she was in so much pain.
