The big freeze is over for the moment.
For the first time in ages there is some bird food left at the end of the day!
Every day I’ve been fillilng feeders up, putting out apple and cheese, putting ground food out.
As soon as I put it out it seemed to be eaten. In the worst of the weather the hanging feeder could be emptied in an hour and the apple and cheese could be eaten in 5 minutes.
Sparrows, chaffinches, robins, blackbirds, thrushes plus other Birds lined the fence and branches looking down on the empty feeders. What could I do? I had to fill them up.
Surely I must have saved at least one bird’s life by doing this. I hope it was worth doing.
Now the grass is showing and the ground is soft so food will be there for them.
wonder if the fieldfares will disappear from our gardens and head off back to the countryside.
