A SHORT VIDEO JOURNEY ROUND SOME OF MY SNOW COVERED FEEDERS

Posted on January 6th, 2010 in All My Videos by Trish

I took this video a while ago – but it could have been yesterday as the snow and the garden look just the same.

I have just realised how many videos I have of my garden covered with snow.  This is the last one I will put on Bird Table News!

As soon as I put the bird food out a lot of it gets covered with the snow.  The garden birds flock around the bush and seem to be more used to me than ever.

Putting bird food out in winter keeps birds alive.   One of the reasons I’ve shown this video is to show how harsh the countryside is for birds and wildlife in winter.

Sorry – not a bird in sight in this video!

Last summer I counted around 15 Gold Finches in our garden and I’m pleased to say we still have around the same amount in the warmer weather. I am very pleased they survived the harsh weather and they certainly love sunflower hearts. I have also noticed a few will eat crushed nuts but the majority stick to the SH.

During warmer weather ours will eat Niger Seed too.

With regard to all the other species we have in the garden, we’ve noticed the average amount. So I agree feeding them has kept them strong.
