Birds feed in different ways
Aug 15th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Different birds have different ways of feeding. That’s one reason why I put out different feeders and different bird food.
NUT FEEDERS are popular with members of the
- tit family and finches.
Sometimes they can be used by - sparrows and even
- jackdaws.
SOME BIRDS THAT FEED ON SEEDS
- Finches,
- sparrows,
- tits Seed feeding birds have beaks that let them crack open the husk and get the seed from inside. Many birds can’t do this.
- Blackbirds, thrushes and robins are mostly ground feeders and like insects and grubs. They also eat feed that doesn’t have any husks such as
- sunflower hearts or
- small peanut nibs as well as
- rolled, flaked or
- chopped cereals.
- I put out grated cheese and chopped apple as well.
So maybe the saying is true - variety is the spice of life.
