Great Tit - photograph
Jul 5th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Here’s a lovely photo of a great tit that I’ve been sent.
It’s great to be able to see a picture of a bird so close up.
Usually I see a fleeting glimpse as they flit here and there.

What a great photo.
I never have the camera with me at the right time.
Last week our blackbird was feeding its young with cherries! I could not believe it when I saw the adult with a red cherry in its beak! I wished I had my camera!
How do the young ones cope with cherry stones?
Hi Top Veg, I know it’s a great photo. Wish I could take photos like that.
I’ve been snacking on cherries this week so I know what you mean when you say how do birds manage with the cherry stones!
Peanuts and cherry stones - The advice I’ve been told about peanuts is never put out whole peanuts between April and September because the young birds may choke on them. Yet here is a bird feeding its young with a cherry. I’m sure cherry stones are bigger than peanuts!
Maybe birds are more sensible than we think. How do we know young birds choke on peanuts.
