Running out of bird food
Jun 20th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
I’ve run out of one type of bird food.
Millett.
I have a Droll Yankee Feeder
Every day for months I put millet in this feeder.
For hour after hour I get sparrows sitting on the ledge and eating contentedly.
One minute I seemed to have loads of millet, now it’s all gone.
I only seem to get sparrows at this feeder. At the moment there are some sparrows sitting on the fence looking down at the empty feeder. Some more sparrows are on the ledge of the feeder and some just flying round.
So I seem to have a small flock of sparrows searching frantically for food that isn’t there.
I wonder how much they depend on this food I put out. I hope the sparrows don’t depend on this food too much.
Will it matter the feeder is empty. Are the sparrows depending on this food to feed their young.
I live 6 miles from a shop. Oh dear.
