Prayer for the Burial of a Bird
This sparrow died today, O Lord,
Your feathered creature small.
We lay him in the friendly earth
And ask Your blessing on us all.
I’ve found a dead sparrow on the lawn today. So tiny and frail. Thought it would be nice to pop this prayer in. I don’t know who wrote it or where it comes from.
It’s not often I see a dead bird now. When we had a stray cat here there were always feathers and dead birds.
It’s breeding time and there are bound to be casualties in bird world.
