Black Bird with a Yellow wing stripe?
May 31st, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Looking out my window on the north side of Leicester, just spotted a beautiful bird the size of a large thrush scuttling up the bark of a tree. All black with yellow stripe markings on its wings/back. Woodpecker I thought when I saw it’s movements, but I am a true novice. Can anyone help?
I’ve received this question. Can anyone help?
Maybe your questioner could try the bird identifier on the RSPB site
http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdidentifier/
choose size, feather colour, beak shape and see if any of the pictured suggestions are like the bird seen. It’s simple and only covers 117 of the common garden birds but worth a try.
