Our bird’s nest and wet weather
May 28th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Coincidence is a funny thing. But this has happened and so I’m going to write it down.
For about a week I’ve been listening to some young birds in a nest somewhere in the roof space near our front door. Every time we open the door we can hear them singing.
I managed to record some of this singing and have just put it onto this bird diary.
This morning the guttering near the nest has been overflowing with water - must have been doing this through the night. It’s been raining, and still is raining.
This morning I open the front door, there is silence, except for the sound of rain
I hope the young birds and their nest are OK and haven’t been swamped by the rain being blocked in the guttering.
Maybe the reason I noticed the young birds singing was to make me remember to clean out the guttering. If I clean out the guttering then, in future, other nests will be safe. We’ll see
