Blackbirds - male and female - two short videos
May 24th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Blacksbirds are thought of as black with a yellow beak. Which is right. But the female blackbird is a lighter colour.
Here are two short videos of blackbirds in my garden. One isn’t very clear, but I’ve added a photo at the end as well.
Male Blackbird
Female Blackbird
Here is a close up photo of a female blackbird. I’m really proud of this photo. The bird let me walk very close to it. That was when I had a dog to take for a walk.

A really good close up photo of the blackbird. I can see why you are proud of that one. It’s not often birds stay still long enough to get such a nice sharp picture.
Hi John, Thanks for the compliment. I took the photo when I used to walk my dog. I really think the birds got used to the dog, and that helped me get close as we were ignored.
Another thing that has helped me is the fact I got a digital camera and went on a digital camera course. Without the course I wouldn’t have been able to bring the photo in even closer, or learn how best to take photos.
Have you any photos? Trisha
