International Dawn-Chorus Day - 4 May
May 2nd, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Have you been listening to birdsong?
Here’ some from my garden -
I’ve got more birdsong, but for some reason it won’t upload which is really annoying as I’ve been silently walking round the garden with my arm outstretched to the sky trying to get the small microphone as near the bird song as possible.
One a serious note, or is it a joyful note, learning to sing is not easy for birds. The sound and the song is incredible when you think how small birds are. Our little wren sings a song that has 740 different notes and can be heard a long way away (500 metres I think)
Birds put a lot of joyous energy into their singing. It’s believed that a small bird can put as much energy into its song as it does into flying.
So enjoy -International Dawn Chorus Day on 4th May
