Ducks, Ducks and more Ducks

I have a lovely magical story from one of my readers
Hi
well i would just like to tell you something that happened to me and my family today.
Well when we woke up this morning and looked out of the window onto our front garden we saw one of the mother ducks that has been nesting there for sometime huddled together with 17 ducklings!
I don’t know if it is a major record but the highest number we have ever had was 13 so this is quite an acheivement. Thankyou
I want to thank you for telling us that story.
Here’s a little duck prayer for the ducks and their family
I think you are so lucky. We have two ducks come every year to our farm pond. They seem to nest, but we never see any young.
I don’t know if they breed somewhere else on their journey. Does anyone else know when ducks breed.
A friend in the next village has some sheep and he also lives near a pond. He is so annoyed at four ducks that waddle across his paddock, head for the food he puts out for his sheep and start eating the feed.
He says that ducks eat a lot of food. I watched from his window as they waddled out of the pond and across the paddock. Large as life and fat.
He said one year there was a brood of 7 youngsters and they all waddled across to the sheep feed.
Ducks seem to be at home in the countryside and in towns as well
I’m glad I know about the family of 17 duckings. It’s nice to think of a family of ducks feeling safe and secure and proudly waddling their young ducklings into the English countryside. Here’s hoping they all survive.
