Female Blackbird watching me
Apr 9th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
After I’d put bird food out for the birds I took the dog a walk. It was a lovely morning.
From a distance I saw something sitting quietely in the hedge. It was very inconspicuous.
If you scroll to the end of this note you’ll see a very good close up photo of the female blackbird
I walked closed and the bird did not move
The dog was scuffling about in the hedgerow so it wasn’t as though it was a quiet time.
I walked towards the bird clicking away with my camera. I took about thirty photographs and it didn’t move. Does it come to my bird tables? It was only a mile from the house.
Here is what you have been scrolling down the page for
Did you notice the red berry in the photo. I’m pretty sure it’s a hawberry that blackbirds like to eat
I’m glad this female blackbird is having a peaceful moment. Last December I saw a Crow eating a blackbird
When I was fed up a blackbird made me decide to keep on feeding the garden birds
Among the food I put out for blackbirds Peanut granules, apple and grated cheese. I also put out some bird food mix that they enjoy.
Do you put all sorts of bird food out or am I by myself in doing that.
We get about 4 or 5 blackbirds in the garden every day. They go to the bird table and the meshed garden ground bird feeder. So they are very much at home in the area.
I’m 90% sure this is a female blackbird. But I get confused between them and thrushes. If you think I’m wrong let me know.
