Save a bird - Keep cats inside
Apr 5th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Now is the time birds are nesting, hatching their young birds, feeding the young birds and trying to feed themselves.
When cats kill birds now it can mean that they are not only killing one bird but the young fledglings may not survive either.
If one parent dies the one surviving parent has to work doubly hard without any guarantee of success.
Lack of food for fledglings means starvation and death.
Will your cat die from lack of food?
Will your cat die because there is not enough food for him / her to eat
Cats eat their fill of cat food provided by their owners. They sleep in comfort knowing there are not any predators for them to fear.
Cats gain their strength through food and sleep. Then owners turn these sleek killing machines outside and they kill and maurade the innocent bird.
A cat’s instinct to hunt is separate from it’s desire for food. This means it will hunt at any time.
People don’t let dogs roam at will. Why should cats.
I’ve had problems with a stray cat that killed birds so I know what harm a cat can do.
What cat owners can do to help the bird population - keep your cat indoors.
The RSPB Gardenwatch survey which shows how the bird population has declined. Cats must have had a ‘paw’ in this.
Paws for thought - in some parts of Australia cats have to be kept inside.
Could this happen in Britain? Should this happen in Britain?
