The birds I saw Today On My Walk
Mar 27th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Here are a list of birds I’ve seen this morning on my walk and in my garden. I saw these birds over the period of one hour.
I think I take birds a bit for granted so thought I would make a note of the variety I see.
1 CHAFFINCH. It’s white wings showed up as it flitted in and out of the hedge.
1 DUCK. On the farm pond. It was happily swimming on the pond then decided to fly off. It was like an old areoplane trying to take off. It just managed to clear the fence near the pond and clumsily flew up into the sky. I heard it later on. The duck’s ’quacking’ mingled in with the rooks ‘caw caw’
SPARROWS flitting about up and down the hedge row.
1 SMALL UNKNOWN bird that looked a bit like a sparrow
IN MY GARDEN I SAW
1 MOORHEN. It was trying to get inside the meshed garden feeder.
6 LARGE ROOKS gathered together eating some birdfood I had accidentally spilt on the lawn.
The moorhen and the rooks ignored each other.
3 or 4 GREAT TITS flitting from feeder to feeder.
2 BLUE TITS on the bird table
STARLINGS near the ground feeder
3 or 4 BLACKBIRDS Perched on the fence and then flying off a short way onto the lawn.
I saw some more CHAFFINCHES AND SPARROWS in the garden.
It’s interesting to see how all these birds in the garden seem to ignore each other. Or maybe they have sorted out their pecking order.
They really are a colouful sight.
