My Birdtables
Feb 20th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
If you haven’t got a bird table I want to try and persuade you to buy one. I want to show you that they are not expensive and they last for years. As these pictures prove.
I’ve had the birdtable in photo above for years. It is my back yard birdtable. For years this birdtable has been stood outside in wind, rain, sleet and snow. I know this birdtable looks old and decrepit. It is old and decrepit, but it has stood the test of time.
The fact is that to a variety of birds it is a breakfast table, a dinner table and a supper table. They treat it like home.
Two of it’s legs are wobbly and I’ve had to tie it to the fence with string to keep it upright. The last time there was a gale this got blown over (again). I don’t know how many times over the years that it’s got blown over but this time it damaged it’s legs a bit more.
I’ve put these photos on my blog to show you that if you buy a birdtable now it will last you years.
The birdtable will become an old familiar sight in your garden and to the garden birds it will be their first port of call on a morning and a place that helps them survive in winter. It’s their Garden Cafe!
This the birdtable I put in my front garden. I put this bird table ‘inside’ the hedge to keep the gales from blowing the bird food off.
This bird table has one wonky leg, unlike the birdtable in my backyard that has two wonky legs.
Putting food out on birdtables helps birds survive especially in bad weatherI never intended to end up with two birdtables. It just happened. I find that I get different birds at the two tables. I have more problems with larges birds coming to my backyard birdtable. I find I get more blue tits at my back yard birdtable, but this could be because it’s near the peanut feeder!
I wanted to show you these old birdtables so you can see that they last for years. So buy a birdtable and feed a bird.
