Peanut Puzzle
Jan 24th, 2008 by Birdy Trish
Feeding peanuts to birds is now thought of as a bad thing. I have just been told this, but I don’t believe that feeding peanuts to birds is bad!
Birds love peanuts.
It must be wrong to say don’t feed peanuts to birds.
Surely feeding peanuts to birds is a good thing.
I’ve been feeding birds for over ten years and have always fed peanuts to birds.
Sometimes I feed whole peanuts to birds in the winter. I also buy crushed peanuts because they are a good source of quick energy for birds in winter. I do feed peanuts all year round.
What would I feed instead of peanuts?
I love it when I glimpse a woodpecker at the peanut feeder. I get so annoyed because I’ve never been able to get a photograph of the woodpecker. It’s colourful feathers look lovely when seen flying into the shelterbelt of trees.
What would the woodpecker eat instead of peanuts?
What would the blue tits and great tits eat instead of peanuts.
I put peanut granules into my ground feeder and they are always eaten by a stream of my garden birds. What will they eat instead of peanuts?
I’m going to find out more about this because I want to know more. I’ll let you know what I find out.
I’ve been looking back and also remembering when I fed peanuts to birds and here are some notes about peanuts and birds that other people have read:
I have fed peanuts to birds for years and they love them
Last Year Great Tits loved the peanuts I put and and they still do
