Different Types of Bird Seed on my Bird Seed Tray
Jan 22nd, 2008 by Birdy Trish
I use my meshed ground feeder a lot and I’ve placed it outside my kitchen window so I can easily watch the birds feeding through the window.
I’ve started to put a lot of different food in the feeder. This morning I thought that maybe I maybe I was putting out too much bird food on the tray.
I’m glad I did put all the food out because I saw such a variety of birds madly hopping in and out. Unfortunately I can’t get very good photos of them - they fly away when I go near!
I used
- Peanuts
- Peanut granules
- Millet
- Black sunflower seed mix and a
- Super Mix with Insects and Fruit
About half an hour after I’d put the feeder out all the peanuts had gone and not long after that nearly all the bird food had gone.
There were thrushes, blackbirds, sparrows, blue tits, coal tits, robins. It was like the M62 motorway with birds flitting at speed in and out of the feeder.
There were maybe five or six of each type of bird flying about near the feeder. The size and colours fascinate me. How they interact with each other amuses me because a lot of the time they seem to ignore each other. When I see a sparrow near a blackbird and then a blue tit arrives I expect one of the three to back away but they seem to be too intent on the food to notice each other.
It just happens that all the bird food on the meshed bird feeder were bought from Soar Mill Seeds
The photo of the bird isn’t very good. I’m finding it really hard to get a good photo. If anyone has any they would like to share I’d love to see them.
Here’s some more notes about the feeder that other people have read
The first visitor to the covered meshed ground feeder!!
Don’t forget if you’ve got any good bird photos could I have a look at them?
