Food for birds is very important throughout the year so putting out any type of bird food helps and means you can attract birds. Here’s some of the favourite food of some garden birds -

• Song Thrush
  Peanut granules, mealworms, fruit (I put out peeled and chopped apple).  I also put out grated cheese.
• Blackbird
  Peanut granules, mealworks, apple.  I also put out grated cheese.
• House Sparrow
  Bird seed mixes, millet, sunflower hearts and (when breeding) mealworms, fat balls.
• Blue Tit
  Peanuts, black sunflower seeds, bird seed mixes, fat balls
• Greenfinch
  Blacksunflower seeds, sunflower hearts, bird seed mixes.

As you can see it’s easy to attract birds.

Bird seed can be bought at many outlets.  It’s easy to buy a bag of mixed bird seed to start with and see what birds you attract.

You don’t need a large garden area.  Hanging bird feeders and bird tables don’t take up much room.  It’s easy - give it a try.
