Birds and Me starting a new day together
Nov 10th, 2007 by Birdy Trish
Often, for the first hour of two of my morning, the only living things I see and talk to are a variety of birds and one dog.
Often, for the first hour or two of my morning, all I hear is the
- Rustle of leaves coming from the large bush in our garden which is outside our front door. This is because a small family of birds wake up and flit out of this bush which is their own garden roosting site.
- Filling the air is the sound of a variety of birds communally singing as they all happily wake up to a brand new day. Even if I’m inside, with the windows open, I can hear this happy chorus.
and ( depending on the weather)
- wind rustling in the hedge
- rain lashing down
There are always
- cars going by
- Dogs barking at each other
Then the morning really starts! Radio blaring out. TV bringing us news, phones ringing, the clatter of breakfast pots - need I go on.
I’m glad my garden provides a home for garden birds such as sparrows, thrushes, blackbirds, wrens, chaffinches. Glad I can be part of it for an hour or two out of my day.
