Those Pesky Birds have left the bird table
Aug 16th, 2007 by Birdy Trish
Hurrah!!! The starlings have disappeared as quickly and mysteriously as they appeared.
I have been keeping an eye on the bird tables and bird feeders all day. Not one starling has appeared.
The sparrows, chaffinches, robins, blackbirds, thrushes and other birds have the bird tables and bird feeders to themselves.
No squawking and scurrying of a flock of starlings as they take over all the feeders.
A calmness seems to have descended. The sparrows have started to line up on the fence again so they can take turns with the feeders. A small robin hops in and out of the ground feeder - taking it’s time as it hops in and out. Sparrows, chaffinches, robins, blackbirds, thrushes have taken their rightful place on the lawn near the feeders. The two doves have appeared again. Even a pigeon has landed.
Where the starlings came from and why they arrived in my garden is a mystery. They must have been starving to hectically feed as they did. The noise and the mess they made while they were here will not be missed. I wish them luck wherever they are - I just don’t want them back here.
