Is this a white headed blackbird?
This bird with a white head has been puzzling people walking by. We think it must be a white headed blackbird.

Interesting to see that! I have exactly the same outside my window in London – a white-headed Blackbird. He/she has been around for a couple of years.
That’s interesting. I took this photograph near a car park in a busy town. This little bird caused a lot of interest as people walked by. It’s the first time I’ve seen one. It was well fed by people throwing it bits of bread and crumbs. I haven’t seen it for a week or two, but will keep an eye open for it next week. It certainly looked like a blackbird as it hopped about. Trisha
Is it a hooded crow? Hooded crows have a white breast and this doesn’t look like it has a white breast. i have looked through all my bird books and this is the closet I can find.

Hi Sara, My photo doesn’t show the bird’s size very well, but this little bird is the size of a blackbird and it hopped about like one. I’ve just been told some blackbirds are born without the black pigment on their heads. Don’t know if it’s true. It’s a bit of a puzzle isn’t it? I looked in some bird books as well and went on the internet but couldn’t find anything. Still the bird’s happy I suppose that’s all that matters. Trisha
